Nordic Bulk delivers a new tripper car to Wacker Chemicals Norway AS (Holla Metall) – an important part of the material handling at the smelter. Wacker Holla produces silicon metal and microsilica – raw materials that form part of the value chain for silicones, solar cells and semiconductors. These materials can be found in everything from cell phones and computers to toothpaste and wind turbines.

How the tripper car works:

When ships unload stone into a hopper, the material is transported further via a conveyor inside a truss conveyor bridge. The tripper car, mounted on rails above the conveyor, distributes the material to the desired location through openings in the side walls of the bridge.

A tripper car generally contributes to more cost-effective material handling and enables optimal storage utilization by delivering material to both sides of the truss conveyor bridge. This unit is an Nordic Bulk solution developed in close collaboration with the customer to meet specific functional requirements. The design can easily be adapted to similar needs in new projects. The solution complies with the customer’s ATEX requirements.

The solution has been fully developed and is scheduled for installation in spring 2026.
