On the bridge of the cargo ship MS Rostock, the captain looks at the clock. He has been waiting for several hours outside Rekefjord Stone, to load crushed stone to be transported to Germany to build a road. Now he is getting impatient.
Challange
Rekefjord Stone outside Egersund has over 700 boats docked each year, and it used to be challenging to meet demand when ships were docked for too long.
They needed an efficient solution that could get ships fully loaded and off in a hurry, so the next ship could arrive. The solution had to work for boats of various sizes. In addition, there was limited space on the quay, which meant that boats often had to move during loading.
Requirements for high functionality at the same time as there is limited space are a challenge. At Team Nordic, we are motivated by such challenges, and we will not give up until we find the optimal solution.
By that we mean a solution that enables you to meet your production targets.
Solution
In order to create a compact discharger that could be adapted to ships of many different sizes, we made it adjustable. It can be adjusted 13 meters in and out lengthwise.
In addition, we made it adjustable from side to side with a 120 degree turning radius. In this way, the material can be spread out evenly in all holds, the boats do not have to move while they are docked, and they take less time to dock.
We have had the last 3 million tonnes without a single error. It has gone flawlessly.
